In Need of Blogging Assistance

So in April, I began blogging at Itty Bitty Dittys. It was only supposed to be a little hobby to help me pass the time of junior year boredom and to share my style with others. But now… It’s become more than that! And I would like to expand my blog to something more personal than just a simple type-thang.

Currently, I use a free blog on I don’t have my own domain and I have to use one of their generated templates. And it sucks. I would love to have a personalized template to match my blog but that means that I would need to switch over to a different platform such as or or some other kinds. But that…costs money. To have a web host, your own domain, and a cutesy theme…. Ahh the costs are piling up! And I’m not sure whether or not if it is worth the investment or which stuff (domain, templates, etc) are worth it in the long run?

So what are your thoughts, my fellow bloggers? I know that some of you have your own domain and you have great templates. What did you invest into your blog? Which platforms are good to use (preferably for me… cheap is good!)? Any tips into this transition?:)

Thank you so much for your lovely advice!

The Beginning Of The End

September 2007 and I'm starting my first day of school with my sparkly pink lunchbox and Hello Kitty backpack!

September 2007 and I’m starting my first day of school with my sparkly pink lunchbox and Hello Kitty backpack!

Eleven years ago, I was beginning my first day of first grade.  It’s crazy how those last 11 years have flown by. So many things have changed. So many amazing people have walked into my life. As a little 7 year old girl, starting my first day of elementary school, I never would have thought I would become the person I am today. Over the past decade and a bit, I’ve achieved so much for my life. I’m an honors student who has taken countless advanced courses. I’ve discovered my passion for learning and loving. It’s been an amazing life so far with so many amazing experiences.

Today, I start my last year in school and I can’t wait for what this year will bring. Even in the past few years, I’ve learned so much about myself and about the world. There may have been dark times of struggle but there certainly have been great times too. These memories I will cherish forever.

So, I send my gratitude for my school experience which as not only taught me lessons on math and science but lessons on life. And let me tell you, I’m so ready for a kick-ass year. And it’s going to be one I will never forget.

My last First Day of School

Also, shout out to Lorietta for her amazing make up post: My Everyday Makeup Routine. A little bit ago, I had sent her an email asking her for makeup tips. I was expecting a nice email back with how she applies her makeup but not a POST! My goodness, she’s such a sweetie. Thank you, darling:) Anyway, after I read her post, I tried her eye makeup routine and I’d like to say it was a success! (You can’t really see it in this picture but I did, I swear!) So, a thousand thank yous again and be sure to check out her post:)

Perfectly Flawed

Splattered Shorts6.jpg

Remember this photo from A Short Nostolgia? Well, shortly after that post came out, I decided to stop procrastionation station over here and start doing my art summer projects. Of the three I had to do (seriously, do I get no summer break?!), one of them had to be a self-portrait.

I’m familiar with self-portraits. Over the past several months, I painted myself twice. Once was with acrylic which kind of turned out awful. One eye looked quite normal while the other one looked as if I had gone a little too heavy on the eyeliner. The other portrait was to redeem the other portrait with waterpaint. This one turned out okay, to say the least. At this point in my short art career, painting others was out of the question. I didn’t want to offend anyone else in case they turned out to have an unintentional moustache or unibrow.

A little tired of painting myself (or doing any sort of art project of myself) I turned away from the paints. Instead, I thought I’d try a little mosaic style project using a grid system and tiny pieces of September’s Vogue magazine. (Has anyone seen that issue? The size of that thing is cutting a little close to be another Harry Potter book….)

Anyway, after 3 glue sticks, a half-torn magazine, and 2 weeks worth of a dirty kitchen table later (my mother is super happy I’m done hogging our dinner table)….

It’s a shame you can’t see the real thing because the colors are so much bolder and richer. (To be honest, it looks 10 times better in person.) I’m actually really happy with the turn out. No drama-llama eye or accidental beard going on here. This project was a lot of fun to do, especially the hair where there are dark blue peices throughout. And thankfully, I only have one more project to crank out before Wednesday when school starts up again. (Ohmygosh cry.)

Also, a quick shout out to Mihaela from Fashion And Love By Mihaela. Basically, we’re kind of, unknowingly, twins. Within days of each other, we posted outfits of ourselves in dungarees. It’s actually really uncanny how similar they are! Check out her Dungarees At Work for a similar version of my I ❤ My Bike version. What can I say? Great minds think alike 😉

The Fall Lineup

Fall is approaching fast. The down side of this is we all have to put our sun dresses and sandals back into our closets (or in my case, an old toy box) for several months. The up side is SHOPPING! I’ve put together a series of wishlist items for The Fall of ’13 on Polyvore. Polyvore is basically a site where you can create outfit sets like the ones below. It’s kind of the grown-up version of those dress-up games we all played and loved as little girls.  Keep in mind that this is my first legitimate time doing this so they won’t be as fancy-shmancy as the rest of you pros. But, I love the outfits and I guess I’ve inspired myself to go out and search for some!

(Also, the detailing of the outfit are not the actual pieces in the picture. They are only recommendations. Thank you!)

Sweater Weather

This comfortable, yet chic outfit is perfect for those cool autumn mornings. Maybe grab some hot cider before you start the day and you’re ready to roll.

Sweater: Forever21 Cable Knit Raglan Sweater for $24.80

Leggings: Charlotte Russe Ankle Length Cotton Leggings for$ 8.99 (or $8 online!)

Boots: Zappos VOLATILE Wicker for $75.00 (I’d never spend that much on shoes but brown boots are very easy to find)

Scarf: American Eagle AEO Printed Scarf for $24.95 (Again, $25 dollars is a lot for a scarf but this outfit is very versatile so anything could work!)

Pretty In Pink

Pretty In Pink Faux Leather Skirt Pink Lace Tank Top Chuck Taylor Converse High Top Round Sunnies

This edgy outfit has a kick of skater with the flared leather skirt and high tops. Jaws will drop whevever you go.

Skirt: Forever21 A-Line Faux Leather Skirt for $15.80

Sunshades: PacSun Robin Round for $14.95 ( 2 for 20 online exclusive!)

Fall Florals

Fall Florals Maxi Skirt Flowy Crop Top Heels Daisies

My favorite. Why put away your summer stuff when you can just switch up the outfit? Lovely maxi skirt with a touch of florals keeps the sun out during the fall.

Skirt: PacSun (with Slit) Kirra Double Front Slit Skirt for $25.00

A Little Reminder

A year ago, one of the saddest events of my lifetime occurred. While it wasn’t as personal as it was for someone I love with all my heart, it was still heart wrenching. You hear about the tragedies of life through the pasts of others although you feel untouched by the sorrow tragedy brings. It’s almost like looking through a window of innocence. But once that window is shattered, the world loses its magic and purity and you are no longer shielded from the treacherousness of life. The world  becomes a darker place.

But the world is not entirely blinded by the evils. Once loss of love has been experienced, the littlest things become the most precious pieces of light and to be cherished within your heart. A shooting star, a loving gaze, the sound of a shared laughter. These things, this love… It makes life worth living.

So, fill your world with memories that bring will bring a smile upon your face. Surround yourself with people who warm your heart and make you feel at home. And live and love life.

Hugs & Kisses,
